It’s the first full moon of the year and marks the end of celebration for Chinese New Year.
We eat Tang yuan, or Yuan xiao. Yuan xiao is a sticky rice ball with a sweet filling. Usually the filling is sesame paste or red bean paste. We have it because the words sound like “reunion” in Chinese and the Lantern Festival is a time for family to be together.
We also make lanterns and hang them up. We go out and look at lanterns that are hung up around the city. We also like to tell and guess riddles that are written on lanterns.
